So we all know that Brompton is the most well-known name around the world for folding bikes, but what if we add the name, David Millar. These two created a partnership 5 years ago to design a lighter, racier version of Brompton folding bike and named it – Brompton X CHPT 3.

In case you are unfamiliar with David Millar he is a retired, professional Scottish road cyclist. The folding bike name CHPT3 represents the third chapter in his life (his career being split in half by a doping ban).

The bike collaboration required working with titanium parts to bring down the overall weight from the steel version. With a titanium fork and a titanium rear, the CHPT3 now weighs in at just a little over 10kg (appx 22 lbs). A racing suspension was also added to the back to tighten up the handling as well as an S-Type handlebar to provide for a more stable ride. The CHPT3 is equipped with six speeds – two sprockets and three internal hubs, but to keep with the racier vibe there is no rack and no fenders.

The Brompton x CHPT3 v3 (currently on version 3) was originally priced at 拢1990 ($2,400 USD) but we have only been able to locate the v3 edition on eBay for considerably more. When they are back in stock this will be the folding bike to buy!
